Andy Warhol--- 15 Minutes Eternal
Hi everyone, i want to show my view of this exhibition. I am sorry that i am late to post this review. It is because the exhibition have already finished. But i just want to share my experience to you guys. If you feel interest, you can go to the similar exhibition next time. Let's introduce some background information of the exhibition to you. The name of this exhibition is called " Andy Warhol--- 15 Minutes Eternal ". It held at Hong Kong museum of art. As same as the name, all the art pieces of the exhibition is created by Andy Warhol. He is the master of the pop art culture. When we talk about pop art, we will think about his name or his art works immediately. He always use the consumer products and images, such as Coca- Cola bottles, Campbell s' soup...
I went there on 13th March 2013. According to this day is Wednesday, the ticket will be cheaper. Moreover, I am the full- time student, the price of the ticket will be more lower. It only cost HK $5. It is really cheap. So that it worth to spend time and take a look. Also, i find a app called " the warhol art" . My friend downloaded this app before we go to see this exhibition. It provides the good basic information to us. It let us more easily understand the meanings of the art pieces when we see this exhibition.
This is the art work of image of the dollar sign. It is the silk- screen printing work. The screen is made of silk or artificial fibers. Putting the color though the mesh. If you ask me that do you love money? I will answer you "yes" quickly. So, that art piece attract me so much. As i am the teenager, i have a lot of dreams. In this world, every things are talking about money. I think this work can express the mind of all teenage so much. It is because we think that money is important to us. Why we spend a lot of time for studying and learning? We want to find the better job. What means better job? High salary? Many older people will think regret when they were looking back their life. They will ask that why we don't enjoy the life and treasure the things when we were young. But I think this is the procedures of growing. The step that we must experience. Also, this art work use many different colorful color. That is the art strategy of the Andy Warhol's art work too. I think this can be translate in the attractive of the world. Many things attract us to do, but is it right? May be we need to pay the "high cost" ( bad consequence) of this. Finally i think this art work can remind all teenagers. We need to learn the skill of control. Also, it remind us that don't be too materialistic.

Art Work That I Choose For Assignment
" The Open " 《敞开者》by Xiang Jing (2006)
Background :
This is a large scale sculpture of a nude woman. The size is 360cm X 610cm X 360cm. It is made by painted fiber glass. This art work had been display in many different exhibitions. Such as, Beijing. This work is strong sense of Feminism. Also it gains many people to question the social value of the woman.
How this art work relate to the contemporary art?
First, material using of the art piece.
The artist use contemporary material. According the technology develop faster in recent decades, many new material was innovated by scientist or artist. Xaing Jing tries to use new material to apply in her art work. According Xiang Jing use the fiber glass, the sculpture become more realistic. Just like a human body's skin.
Second, the context of the sculpture is related to the social problem in world, especially in China.
In my opinion, i think this is the most big reason that why " The Open " is contemporary art. The context of this sculpture is the point that attracts me a lot. It connects to the contemporary culture. Also, it raises the concern of female in China. We can separate in few parts to analysis that how this art work relates to the social issues.

The Big Scale of Female's Body
The scale of the sculpture is really big. As we can see the photo form the right hand side. I think it is ironic presentation. In many places, the social value of the woman are normally lower that the man's. Usually, man is bigger than the female. No matter in the human nature or physically, woman is small. It seems they are less power to speak out their wishes.
A Nude Female's Body
Most of her sculptures are woman in nude. From this art work, you can see that she emphasize the subjective creative perspective. All the things are personally . it is because Xiang Jing is a female. So, the image of the female is different form what the man expected. From this art piece, i think that Xiang Jing wants to express the imbalance situation in the world. That is the problem that exist in the society from the long long time ago. We can see the passive and the active relation between female and man. i think she wants to present that man will create many layers of camouflage when they watching a girl. They give the oppressive pressure to the woman.

"TINO"

This work is made in wood. When i saw this art work, i thought it is a dinosaur, and a sculpture construct in many timber pieces. However it is not. It is an elephant which called Tino. Than, there was a question appear in my brain-- Who is Tino?? A cartoon character?? Just a simple name?? Tino is the elephant of Lai Chi Kok Zoo (Lai Yuen) , also the only one elephant keeps in Hong Kong for long time. Lai Yuen is a most famous theme park at Hong Kong in 1958- 1997. Lai Yuen equals to Ocean Park and Disneyland in Hong Kong nowadays. Only the shape of sculpture can recall many Hong Kong people memories.
Lay your hand under the tip of the trunk to trigger the sound effect. Each sentence presented in the sound effect can be traced back to a moment in Hong Kong's history.
Some of the words may have been fading from memory, perhaps hardly have any impression. If all the fragments of the phrase are pieced together, what kind of story about Hong Kong can combine in a complete true Hong Kong story with these words
In caption, there are few voice record. All of these record are related to the Hong Kong politic. Such as, Murray MacLehose, Lau Wai Hing, Deng Xiao Ping.....
In recent years, the conflict between Hong Kong and China become a hot topic. I think this art work have a strong sense of political. i think it is a time for all the Hong Kong people to reflect ourselves. Which nation we are? This work also bring us a lots of memories of Hong Kong. Such as, the history of Hong Kong, 1997.... I love this artwork. It is because their local consciousness.

Xiang Jing
Name: Xiang Jing
Born: Beijing, China
Brith year: 1968
Graduate: From the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1995
Type of art: Sculpture
She emphasis Feminism. And attention about the right to speak of female. Most of her sculptures are based on women whose shows the imperfect nature and realness of women. She does not make her sculptures perfect; instead, she gives them flaws that are common in women. These flaws often include a flabby waistline, a lack of expression on the face, and often an off shaped body. Xiang Jing seems to convey the humility or emptiness of the everyday woman.

An Experience of Fotanian Open Studios 2013
I went to Fotanian Open Studios on 19 JAN 2013.
In Hong Kong, the rent is really high. Only a few artist can afford the rent of studio where in downtown. Therefore, Fo Tan industrial centre s a good choice for them. It is because the rent is cheaper.
There are many different studios in 15 different industrial centres at this area. It is impossible to go every industrial centres. So that, I choose one of them to take a look. It is Wah Luen industrial centre.
Lee Chin Fai's workshop
Lee Chin Fai (Danny Lee) is a sculptor. We can also find many his work in the shopping mall. Such as, Element. There are his sculpture in the water zone.
" A tree"
The first impact of this piece is abstract. He use metal bar and rear-view mirror to form a tree. I think this is a meaningful art work. It gave me a big reflection. As I think everyone is finding many different answer in their life. Lee use rear-view mirror in his work. There should be a special meaning. Why he don't just use the simple mirror? I think it represents to look to the past. If you want to be more success, you should look back to your life and have a reflection. Also, most of the answer had already appear in the past. He use the rusted metal bars to form the structure. Rusted metal bars are represents the old things.
Also, I think this work have a sense of environment friendly. In recent years, Hong Kong government launch many plans for the infrastructure development. It damages our living environment, the landfill area become full. Also, it is a time for us to look back the urban development of Hong Kong. Is it suitable? Is it the best way of Hong Kong?
" Lonely (孤寂)"
I think this art work was effected by the Chinese traditional landscape painting, Chinese ink painting. It shows the relationship between nature and the human. Just like having a conversation to the natural. Also, it shows the traditional Chinese spirit: Literati spirit. It is a big contrast to Hong Kong--- A busy city. It let me feel relax. Picking back a life attitude that I lost in the city--- A sense of silent.
As the information for the art work mentioned, Lee had tried to use different materials to do this sculpture. I think he was finding the relationship between art work and the possibility of the material. He tried timber, stone, concrete and metal. Finally, he use metal. I think the reason why he don't choose stone is that stone is present a sense of hard and the clod feelings. Furthermore, timber is hard to present the feeling of Chinese traditional landscape, can't show the sharp of mountain.
Laiyan Projects Workshop
Cornelia Erdmann is an artist , also is a entrepreneur. In her art work, she always play with aspect of light---( reflection, shadows and illumination."People"
It made by stainless steel and programmed LED lighting. It likes a paper cutting people standing on the wall. It cuts from stainless steel sheet. Its reflection of the light and shadow show on the white wall. It create an illusion of positive and negative. The scenes brought to life thought light, a second essential element of art work. It turns the simple wall in to a dynamic sense. Furthermore, the color of light will change throughout the day to the daily hustle and bustle.
It is same as the artwork set on the internal wall space in Legislative Council which is on the upper side on the electronic escalator. I think it can show the Hong Kong democracy. Hong Kong is an international city, many different nation people are living in there too. But they still can have a good cooperation with each other. Just like the art work, there many different kind of people, such as, men, women, children, elderly, different ethnicity..... Some of them are working, some of them are playing, some of them are passing time..... It shows different story of Hong Kong, also match the context of Hong Kong society.
I think it is a good example of contemporary art work connect to the architecture, functional with the human. Finally, the light create the link between the artwork the space and life.
